The 2N683 is a high-reliability silicon controlled rectifier (SCR) built in a durable TO-48 / TO-208AA stud-mount metal package, engineered for high-performance power switching and control in harsh or mission-critical applications. As part of the 2N68x–2N69x family of reverse-blocking SCRs (2N681–2N692), it offers dependable performance across a range of voltage and current ratings suitable for defense, aerospace, and industrial power systems.
The 2N683 provides a repetitive peak off-state voltage (V_DRM / V_RRM) of approximately 600 V, an RMS on-state current of 25 A, and a non-repetitive surge current up to 150 A. Available as standard 2N683 or fully qualified to JAN / JANTX standards in accordance with MIL-PRF-19500/108, it ensures consistent reliability under extreme electrical and environmental stress.
When a positive gate signal is applied, the SCR conducts between the anode and cathode and remains latched on until the current falls below the holding current — enabling efficient power switching and rectification.
Anode – threaded stud (mount)
Cathode – main output lead
Gate – control terminal
