The 2N685 is a high-reliability silicon controlled rectifier (SCR) designed for efficient power switching and control in harsh, mission-critical environments. Packaged in a rugged TO-48 / TO-208AA stud-mount metal case, it offers excellent mechanical strength and thermal conductivity for superior heat dissipation. The device is part of the 2N68x–2N69x family of reverse-blocking SCRs (2N681–2N692), providing a range of voltage options for industrial, defense, and aerospace systems.
The 2N685 features a repetitive peak off-state voltage (V_DRM / V_RRM) of approximately 700 V, an RMS on-state current of 25 A, and a non-repetitive surge current up to 150 A. It is available as a standard 2N685 or as a JAN / JANTX-qualified device per MIL-PRF-19500/108, ensuring consistent, military-grade reliability and endurance.
When a gate pulse is applied, the SCR conducts between anode and cathode and remains latched on until the current drops below the holding threshold — making it ideal for controlled rectification and power switching.
